Brad Dummer was born on December 13, 1978, in Rockford, IL. He was the son of Craig and Cathy (Bean) Dummer. From a young age, Brad displayed a strong work ethic and a love for agriculture. He grew up surrounded by family values and a deep respect for the farming lifestyle.
Brad graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1997. After high school, he pursued his passion for farming and earned an Associate Degree in Agriculture from Highland Community College.
Dedication to Agriculture
Brad was known throughout the region as a reliable and hardworking agricultural professional. He worked alongside his family in their farming operations, contributing to their shared goals and success.
Later, he joined Pioneer Hybrid International as a representative. There, he sold seeds and provided crop insurance services. Brad was more than a salesman; he was a trusted advisor and friend to many farmers in the community.
In 2014, he launched his own business, Dummer Seed Services (DSS). The company offered advanced agricultural support, including Veris Technologies soil mapping. His innovation and dedication made DSS a well-respected name in the local ag industry.
A Leader and Supporter of Local Events
Brad wasn’t only passionate about his work. He also loved giving back to his community. He served as a board member of the Winnebago County Fair, helping to organize events and support youth agricultural programs.
His passion for truck pulling took him on many adventures across the region. He enjoyed competing with the Southwest Wisconsin Pullers and cheering on fellow participants. For Brad, these events weren’t just competitions. They were a chance to build friendships and create memories.
A Devoted Family Man
Of all his roles, being a husband and father meant the most to Brad. He married Kara (Phillips) Dummer on September 29, 2012, in Rockford, IL. Their love was evident to everyone who knew them. Together, they raised two beautiful children: Preston and Myrah.
Brad cherished every moment with his family. Whether it was time on the farm, weekend trips, or simple evenings at home, he prioritized making memories. He taught his children the value of kindness, hard work, and integrity.
Remembering His Character
Brad was known for his warm smile, quiet strength, and generous heart. He helped neighbors without expecting anything in return. He mentored young farmers and always had a word of encouragement.
His intelligence, paired with his sense of humor, made him approachable and respected. People trusted Brad because he lived by example. He worked hard, stayed humble, and loved deeply.
The Community’s Farewell
A visitation was held on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McCorkle Funeral Home – Pecatonica Chapel. Friends, family, and neighbors gathered to share stories, grieve together, and celebrate Brad’s life.
The funeral ceremony took place the following day, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the same location. The service honored Brad’s legacy with heartfelt tributes, prayers, and music.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorials be directed to his children and wife. This gesture reflects Brad’s lifelong commitment to supporting his family and helping others.
